[August 26th-27th] Yoshida Fire Festival Information

This local festival is held August 26th to 27th in the town of Fujiyoshida, right by Fujisan Station. You can see processions running from Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine to Suwa Jinja Shrine. The night of the festival, locals will light lanterns and parade around the town with the local god/shrine.

The schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, August 26th
　14:30 Shinto rituals at Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine and Suwa Shrine
　17:00 Mikoshi procession (Myojin Mikoshi and Miyama Mikoshi)
　18:30 Arrival of the mikoshi at the Otabisho (Kamiyoshida Community Center)
　　　　　　 Torch lighting (once the mikoshi arrives)
　22:00 Large torches start to be removed

Wednesday, August 27th
　13:15 Shinto rituals at the Otabisho (Kamiyoshida Community Center)
　14:00 Departure of the mikoshi (Myojin Mikoshi and Miyama Mikoshi)
　15:30 Golden Torii Festival
　18:00 Mikuraishi Festival
　19:00 Shinto rituals at Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine
